However, our progress is being threatened by the national and local economic crisis coupled with increased student enrollment:

  • Since 2009, APS has lost more than $70 million in state funding through the 2011-12 school year...
  • We are projected to lose in excess of $100 million in state funding through the 2012-13 school year...
  • Property values have declined by 15%, resulting in our local property taxes declining by 15% as well...
  • Over the last five years, APS enrollment is up 17%.

A FRUGAL approach to help Aurora's kids

Aurora citizens will get a chance to help APS children this November 6th by voting YES on a $15 million mill levy override issue which would...
  • Recover a small portion of state funding cuts
  • Benefit every school and every neighborhood
  • Result in taxes similar to those in 2009
